Cozy Fall Beverage Recipes Made with Fresh Ingredients

It’s finally fall, the time of year when many of us are called to cuddle up in blankets and watch scary movies. While we’re laying low inside, the fall harvest is abundant with produce. October has the ripest apples, freshest cranberries, and plumpest pumpkins—making these flavors skyrocket in popularity.

A warm, autumn-inspired drink made with fresh ingredients is the best way to appreciate the fall season. Here are three cozy beverage recipes to enjoy on a cool autumn day!

  1. Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate

What’s better than a sweet treat with a kick of fall spices? A chocolatey spin on the classic pumpkin spice latte, this hot drink is sure to get you in the Halloween spirit. 


  • ½ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin puree
  • ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ¼ cup whipped cream
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg


Whisk milk, cream, chocolate chips, and cocoa powder together in a saucepan over medium heat, until chocolate chips are melted (about 3 to 5 minutes). Stir in pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice until smooth. Pour into a mug, top with whipped cream, and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.

  1. Spiced Apple Cider

Fall is full of outdoor activities—from apple picking, to corn mazes, to pumpkin patches, and more. Sipping on a warm beverage is the perfect way to end a long day in the cool autumn air. Plus, this hot cider recipe will fill your home with fragrant, earthy spices. 


  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • ½ tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tbsp ground nutmeg
  • 3 lemon sleeves
  • 3 orange slices
  • 4 apple slices
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 5 star anise pieces


In a 5 quart crock pot on low heat, add all ingredients. Warm for about 3-4 hours. Ladle into a mug, and top with whipped cream and caramel if desired.

  1. Hot Cranberry Tea

Too rainy for outdoor fall festivities? No problem. Nothing compares to curling up on a rainy day with a book and a cup of tea—especially if the tea is homemade with fresh fall ingredients. 


  • 14 cups of water
  • 1 ½ cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 juiced oranges
  • 2 juiced lemons
  • 12 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks


Using a large pot, combine water and cranberries. Bring mixture to a boil and reduce heat. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add sugar, lemon juice, orange juice, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Cover and steep for one hour.
